The heat is on

and unfortunately, I’m not taking about the weather.

Last night the J Lair fell below my inside lowest temperature of comfort - 20°C. The outside temperature hasn’t reached that high since I’ve been home (and it rained most of yesterday too) – an awful thing to come back from blazing hot (and sunny) Spain to – and that, of course, brought the inside temperature down so I had to turn the heat on.

Sort of.

In Germany, landlords turn the heat off from May to September to save money because it shouldn’t be needed then. So, I dug out my six year old space heater and fired it up for about ten minutes last night and fifteen minutes this morning to take the chill out of the place.

It is so wrong to need heating at this time of the year!

So far we have had one of the summers yet and are well on the way to breaking rainfall records. So far we have had 240 mm with normal about 148. As I sit here and look out the window at the black threatening clouds I kind of envy you. You’d think the rain would cool things down but you’d be wrong. As soon as it stops the temperature climbs back to thirty with humidity levels around 40, yuck. I think maybe I’d rather be cool and have to use a space heater from time to time…
