sort of.
I spent Wednesday travelling from Barcelona to Zaragoza and went right to the expo afterwards for most of the rest of the day.
Other than an hour, I spent the entire day at the expo on Thursday – arriving at 9:15 and leaving after midnight – not because the expo closed, but because I was tired and my feet were killing me (the expo is a mostly standing up event).
So, I’m taking today off from the expo, but not because I’m on cultural overload, it’s because I’m tired.
Have I been spending my day off?
Going to the beach?
Nope. Zaragoza is about 4 hours from there.
Stay in my room and watch TV?
No chance in hell.
I’m seeing Zaragoza - something I would have been quite annoyed with myself if I hadn’t done it.
I was supposed to be heading back to Barcelona today, but changed that plan after spending time at the expo on Thursday. I decided that I hadn’t seen it all and wanted to see more, so I returned to my pension (small accommodation thing) and found out that they had a room left, so I extended my stay a couple more nights and then called the pension I had a reservation for in Barcelona and cancelled it. Luckily, I had booked my flight home from the Barcelona airport in the evening, so I’ll easily be able to make it back in time for their flight (I’ll be going back to the expo tomorrow).
I slept til 10:30 and have already seen the cathedral and basilica. While walking to a park, I just happened to see a free wifi shopping mall and popped in for a cup of tea and a bit of wifi (to buy my train ticket for Sunday, check my email, etc) and then will be going to a palace and a few other things.
A nice ‘day off’.
