Bremen, 27 & 28 September 2008

Be there!

It’s official, the Bremen will be the fourth city to be invaded by the Whiney Expat Bloggers in Germany for our annual Meet-Up.

Come one, come all!

Speak English the entire weekend!

Meet new people and see old pals again!

Enjoy the kind of camaraderie that people who have never lived outside of their country can’t understand!

We’ll even be doing some sightseeing!

Let’s plan it here to see if technology can help make it easier and also so that we don’t bore those who can’t attend (it says invitation required, but everyone who wants one will be sent one).

So much for that idea - that website is shutting down on 22 August for good, so planning is back to the ‘old fashioned’ way - email. If you have already posted your interest on the other website, you don’t need to do it again - I have it and your email addresses.

Bookmark this post - it’ll be the official interest/planning post.

I’ll be looking into flights soon. No wait! I could probably cycle there if the weather’s right. :-)

Alas, our house will be full of Oktoberfest guests that weekend. It’d probably be a little rude of me as a host to sneak off to Bremen…

Have fun, guys!

Do we have a local host in Bremen yet?

I’m pretty sure I can make it, and I want to know if we have a designated “convention” hotel yet…

Adam, Claire is our local host and will be doing recon soon. Hotel info will be on this website once we have it.

i found this:

Bremer Seemeile
September 2008, Bremer City

Kim, not yet, but Claire is our local working on things. However, we’re open to any and all ideas you might have.

[…] Hannover: just kind of meh. I definitely need more time there before I can form an opinion (I experienced the train station, the hotel, the Fest, the inside of a conference room, and nothing of the city itself). But after a few glimpses around, especially of the Fest itself, I found myself wondering: Where’s the tradition?. There seemed to be no connection to the past there, the way there is in Regensburg, Nuremberg, or Munich. I am sure there are various and sundry historical, political and cultural reasons for that, but we’ll need to compare Hannover with other Northern German cities to be sure. Next up: Bremen. […]
