*In a lesson about technology*
J: ‘StudentB, what ISP do you use?’
StudentB: ‘Telekom.’
J: ‘You do?’
SB: ‘Yes, I’m a magenta man.’
J: ‘A what?’
SB: ‘A magenta man. I used to work for Telekom and you know what colour their logo is.’
J: ‘Magenta?’ [I had thought it was pink]
SB: ‘Right. Those of us that worked for Telekom are loyal to it and call ourselves ‘Magenta Men’.’
J: ‘You might not want to say that to English speakers.’
*The other students chuckle*
SB: ‘Why not?
StudentS: ‘Think about it.’
SB: ‘Why?’
SS: ‘What colour is magenta?’
SB: ‘It’s magenta.’
SS: ‘It’s pink!.’
SB: ‘Oh!!’ [as he clues in to the other possible meaning].
*Laughter from all, including Magenta Man*
