Now that we know we’ll be going to Bremen, let’s work on a date for the 2008 Whiney Expat Bloggers in Germany Meet-Up.
The Meet-Up has been the third weekend in November the last two years (a coincidence) and both years we’ve commented how it’s been dark and cold (not unsurprising at that time of the year) and that it’d be better to have it earlier in the year. Summer isn’t a good time due to the fact that summer holidays vary and most people travel then.
Back in February, I did some checking into the school holiday schedule for this year and it appears that the final summer holiday ends on 15 September (Bavaria) and the beginning of the autumn break is on 6 October (Saarland, Hessen and my state – 30 Sept in Berlin?). That leaves us the weekends of 20 & 21 and 27 & 28 Sept. After that, we’re looking at 8 November at the earliest if we want to avoid school holidays – back to cold and dark again.
So, I’d like to propose (with the first two being my first preference)
20 & 21 Sept
27 & 28 Sept
4 & 5 October
11 & 12 October
As with the location, majority rules, so feel free to propose dates or agree with one of mine if it happens to be good for you. Please vote only if it is possible, depending on the date, for you to attend. Once again, anyone is welcome to attend.
