Exam season

is in full swing and tends to stress out everyone involved – students, teachers, organisers and examiners. Of those things, I am all but the first – so you can imagine how stressed out I am.

What’s a guy to do to escape a bit of the stress for a while?

How about a blast down the Autobahn (motorway) and through the forest in a blue 2006 Mercedes SLK 200 Kompressor with the top down on a mostly sunny Saturday afternoon with a good looking blond driving?

Trust me, it works.

Glad to hear that chillin’ out works!

It definitely did.

Oh yeah, I can see how something like that can help… but you forgot the MUSIC! That is an important part.

I am really sorry to bother you like this in the comments.
I guess having a teaching job doesn’t make you want to answer stupid questions in exactly that field… but still I just have to ask since you’re one of the very few persons who is able to give a qualified answer:

With which TOEFL score would you consider a speaker at native or near native level?

Dom,

According to the European Common Framework, C2 level. However, the newish TOEFL iBT hasn’t been rated yet (to my knowledge) to see how it compares to that framework (the old cBT was between B2 and C1), so I’d have to say the upper band that begins at 110. The very best barometer I can give you is CPE – which, to me, is a better all around exam and also more useful in countries other than the US (and doesn’t expire, unlike TOEFL).

[…] The SLK 200 Kompressor I posted about last week!! […]
